o 2. How can I move Pocket RCT from my old machine to a new one?

The Pocket RCT software can easily and quickly move from one machine to another if you READ and carefully follow the step-by-step instructions below. Please remember that the Pocket RCT license allows you to run Pocket RCT on one an only one machine at a time. To move your license to another machine:

0. Before purchasing a new machine, make sure the new machine is capable of running Pocket RCT, and make sure it has a slot for your SentinelKey (CF, SD, mini-SD or micro-SD).

1. Install the latest Pocket RCT version onto the new device. Make sure Pocket RCT installs without warnings. You don't need an activation code to install the software, when Pocket RCT asks for the SentinelKey, then an activation code, it is fully installed (just not activated). Some users may need to upgrade to a later version, all software can be, downloaded directly from the internet. Some users may need to update to Pocket RCT for Windows Mobile 5 or 6, see RCT upgrade page.

2. If installation is successful you will see the Pocket RCT Activation Window and a machine serial number on your new Pocket PC. You must have a slot for the SentinelKey to successfully install and see the Activation Window. If your new machine does not have slot for the SentinelKey you will need to trade SentinelKeys, see the RCT cross-grade form.

Back to the old Pocket PC...

3. Make sure you have Pocket RCT 3.2.0f2 or later installed on the old device. To remove Pocket RCT from the old machine tap here:
Start menu > Settings > System tab > Remove Programs and then select "Reyburn Piano Service, Inc. Pocket RCT" and tap Remove. Answer "Yes" to "Deactivate?".

If your old device works but you need further or more specific help see http://www.reyburn.com/deactivate_works.html

If your old device is not functional enough to deactivate see http://www.reyburn.com/deactivate_broke.html

4. For working old Pocket PC devices, after removal and deactivation is complete, you'll see an 8 digit Deactivation code. Carefully write it down and save this code. If you don't have this code, start File Explorer, browse to the SentinelKey and tap the file "activate".

5. Submit a request for a new Activation code at: http://www.reyburn.com/activate.html The latest Pocket RCT version must be installed before requesting and activation code. You don't need an activation code to install the software and view the Pocket RCT activation window.

Don't dispose of the old Pocket PC (even if broken) before contacting us. In some cases we may ask you to ship us the old machine. For more detailed deactivation instructions see (including deactivating broken machines):

o 3. Does RCT leave any room on my computer for other programs?

Yes. Pocket RCT uses only about 5% of the memory of a Pocket PC, or less than 1% of an average computer hard drive. In other words, at least 95% of the resources are left for managing your schedule, customers etc.... RCT uses more space if you save a lot of piano tuning records, about 50,000 tunings can be stored in a 32mb Pocket PC or millions on a laptop. Of course, you can make a backup of your files on a another computer or a memory card or other media which means you have unlimited storage.

o 4. Can I buy Pocket RCT packaged with a Pocket PC or laptop computer? Does your company sell computers with RCT?

Yes, we provide several packages including a Pocket PC starting at $1095. We do not not carry any laptops. Please see our Packages page.

But you can also purchase theRCT sofware and install it on your own Pocket PC or laptop. Pocket PC's are available almost anywhere they sell computers, often at a discount starting at about $200. RCT is easy to install, and we have great toll free support.

o 5. Does Pocket RCT have all the same features as RCT on laptops?

Pocket RCT is a fully capable tuning device and has most of the same features are the laptop version. Pocket RCT has some features that the laptop version doesn't have. The current Pocket RCT has Chameleon 2 (Easy and Advanced modes), CyberEar, Tuning Graph, Historical Temperaments, Tuning File management, Pianalyzer, and the same legendary Pitch Raise capability and accuracy as RCT for Mac and Windows. There are a few minor or lesser used features we are leaving out of the current Pocket RCT release. See Pocket RCT Software page.
Later Pocket RCT versions which are free upgrades planned for release as soon as possible will have Custom Equalizer and a number of other new features.

o 6. Can I transfer RCT tuning files between RCT Windows, RCT Mac, and Pocket RCT?

Yes! Pocket RCT uses the same file format as RCT for Mac and Windows 3.5 or later. The files are exactly the same on all three platforms. Pocket RCT and RCT tuning files can be treated as you would any other computer file. They can be synchronized, emailed, transferred on diskettes, CF/SD memory cards, etc....

o 7. Does Pocket RCT require a laptop or desktop computer?

No... certainly not for tuning. You won't don't need a computer at all as installation of Pocket RCT can be done from the included CF or SD memory card (see Installing Pocket RCT below). We will support the installation of Pocket RCT upgrades to their Pocket PC handheld computer using a Windows or Mac computer from CD or internet download, but memory card installation is required for the initial install.

o 8. How is Pocket RCT supplied and installed?

Pocket RCT software comes on a CF (Compact Flash) or SD (Secure Digital) memory card. Installation is as simple as inserting the memory card and following the on-screen instructions. The installer starts automatically when you insert the memory card. We've found that a memory card is an easier install than any other method. No computer is needed, other than the Pocket PC handheld. The CF or SD card is not needed for normal use (tuning pianos), only for installation and upgrading Pocket RCT.

Pocket RCT includes a CF or SD card, a printed manual, a CyberFork A440 pitch reference, online help, toll free phone help, free upgrades for one year (upgrade to version 3.6 and all releases for one year are guaranteed free) and the RCT video on DVD-R or VHS.

o 9. I've heard that computers and/or tuning machines are hard to use. Is Reyburn CyberTuner difficult to learn to tune with?

No, it's easy! We've spent a lot of time making RCT easy to learn and use. RCT comes with online help, an electronic and printed manual, toll free support numbers, and email support. We even have a private listserv on the internet just for RCT users.

o 10. With Reyburn CyberTuner could I tune my own piano?

Yes! You just need to learn how first, but learning tuning takes perserverence. To learn to tune well takes A LONG TIME! Having a RCT doesn't make you a tuner, but RCT is an excellent teaching tool. If you want to learn more about piano tuning get in touch with your local chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. http://www.ptg.org

Learning to tune is quicker and easier to learn for most students using an impact tuning lever. With this in mind, we offer the CyberHammer Impact tuning lever.
