A) Translation notes

(*2)As RCT is continually being improved and developed, after version 3.0 was released in November, 1998, RCT has become compatible with Microsoft Windows computers, offering us a wider choice of hardware and a greater advantage in its portability and battery duration. As for Macintosh users, a new high performance Macintosh PowerBook with greater portability and long battery life will be released May 1999.

(*5) One can deal with the different break points between plain wire strings and wound strings for different pianos, by setting up the program accordingly for each piano.
(*6) The current version of RCT provides more flexibility. Notes from A0 to G#1 can also be tuned from their tenth and twelfth partials, and notes from A1 to G#2 can be tuned from their fourth, fifth, and sixth partials.

B) About the translation....
I am Hiromitsu Watanabe, RPT, Japan Piano Technicians Associations, Hokkaido chapter.
Using RCT since November, 1998, I have been struck by the developer's passion to make advancement in piano tuning, and truly amazed by RCT's performance. I was determined to prepare a translation of the article, hoping that more tuners in Japan would come to know about this great "VTD". In my opinion, if RCT would attract training institutions, musical instrument manufactures, piano designers, those who are pursuing the field of Acoustics, performers, and music fans, RCT would contribute to the development and the understanding of the qualities of Acoustic Pianos.
Still, I found it difficult to write a precise translation without the sufficient knowledge of Acoustics, and without the techniques to use the functions thoroughly.
As for the technical terms and words of coinage, in part I have written the original text alongside the translation. Listed below are books of reference, although I haven't finished reading through them intensively.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any indication, or comment. I welcome feed back of any sort.
