What does "internet only support" mean for the discounted internet upgrades below?

We offer a 25% discount on upgrades if you can handle everything online. That includes purchase, download, install and activating of your new software. The download comes with complete instructions and is easy if you have basic computer skills and carefully follow the written instructions. Full support is available via our support web form (which are manned by real human beings who are RCT experts.).

If you typically need phone support for downloading and installing software, then we recommend purchasing one of the upgrades below with phone support. Upgrades can be shipped on CD or memory card, or downloaded from our website. Activation must be handled on our internet web form in all cases, but if you purchase the upgarde with phone support, then we can step you through any issues over the phone, including most internet issues.

Whatever option you choose, please note there are limits to what we can help you with either by phone or online. For instance we can't help much at all (other than offering sympathy) if you have trouble with your internet computer, connection or browser, ISP, ActiveSync connection, memory card reader etc...

If you order the discounted internet upgrade but then need phone support before your unit is installed and activated, please have your credit card ready when you call to pay difference between the discount and regular pricing ($50 minimum + s/h if applicable).

Once you have the new software activated our usual unlimited toll free phone support resumes.

Can I get the internet discount by ordering on the phone?

Sorry but no. Handling everything on the internet is a more efficient use of our sales and support team's time, thus we offer a 25% discount. The price will be the higher price if you purchase with any method other than via paypal and internet download.

Why do I need to purchase a one-time-use activation if I purchased Pocket RCT more than one year ago?

The software you will be activating is a much more advanced and feature-rich version which is much more reliable and stable than the one you purchased a license several years ago. These advances are thanks to the countless hours our staff has invested in this software.

When you request an activation there are almost always support questions that arise about the software and the new hardware. This takes our support staff's time. We can't work for free, we have bills to pay also.

We don't charge a yearly license fee as some software companies do. The one-time-use activation fee is small and helps cover our support, maintenance and upgrades on the software.

For those without a Windows Mobile 5/6 license upgrade, if you upgrade your license to include Windows Mobile 5/6 then one activation is included for free, and future activation charges are reduced by 50%, see items "P1" through "P4" below.

Are there any multiple discounts available for upgrades?

Yes, if you or your company has multiple registered RCT licenses we recommend purchasing multiple upgrades at one time. If you do so the first upgrade is regular price and the 2nd, 3rd and all subsequent upgrades on the same order get a 50% discount. If multiple upgrades are priced differently for different licesnes, the lower price upgrade gets the 50% discount. The discount only applies to upgrades which are registered to the same person or business. Click here for discounted multiple license upgrades.

What if I don't get linked to the right page after purchasing the upgrade online?

This is no problem, you should be linked back to a download info page. But if this doesn't work, we will be happy to email you the download info.

What if you release another new version soon after I purchase an upgrade?

Purchasing a major upgrade or cross-grade (over $200) comes with one year of free upgrades for the same platform. This is a similar policy that we've used for a long time for original RCT software purchase. The free upgrades must be downloaded from the internet, there may be a nominal charge (such as $50 to $65+ s/h) if you request a memory card or CD. The best way to get notification of upgrades is to subscribe to one of our free listservs, ether ctuner or rctupgrade.

My new computer doesn't have a place to attach or plug in my current SentinelKey, can I still purchase an upgrade online?

With no port for the SentinelKey you will need to physically send us the key for trade. The new software won't run until you can attach a SentinelKey directly to the new machine. It's usually more convenient to trade the SentinelKey at the same time you order an upgrade. The SentinelKey trade is free when ordered with a shipped upgrade (SentinelKey trades are *not* free with the internet download discount). This kind of transaction involves you sending us a printed and filled out cross-grade form with the unlocked or deactivated SentinelKey. See cross-grade info below.

IMPORTANT SENTINELKEY NOTE: Your SentinelKey MUST PHYSICALLY fit into a slot or attach DIRECTLY to your machine. If not, you will need to trade SentinelKeys before the RCT can be activated. Trading SentinelKeys is free with a shipped upgrade, or nominal cost when traded separately. Note: Upgrade to the latest version and/or license is required if trading any type of SentinelKey.

Does it matter which browser I use for downloading?

Yes! Please don't use Firefox! Use Internet Explorer on Windows and Safari on MacOS X. Firefox will often damage our zipped downloads.
