(Francais) Software Solutions for Piano Technicians

Reyburn Piano Service, Inc.

o Who Are We?

Reyburn Piano Service, Inc. has developed specialized software for the piano service business since 1983.

Dean, Mitch and most RCT distributors and teachers are "RPT," Registered Piano Technician members of the Piano Technicians Guild and full time piano tuner-technicians with many years of professional tuning experience. RPS, Inc.'s goal is to provide the piano service professional with productivity enhancing, creative software for Windows and Macintosh computers.

Dean L. Reyburn, RPT

A full time piano tuner-technician since 1978, Dean is developer of Reyburn CyberTuner software visual tuning system and Vice President of RPS, Inc. Dean learned traditional aural tuning from Virgil Smith, RPT and Robert Carbaugh in 1977 and tuned pianos full time through 1987 aurally only. Integrating aural with visual tuning techniques and computer-assisted tuning have occupied Dean for many years. He is interested in the application of portable computers for piano tech work and has been developing specialized software for piano technicians since 1983. Dean has been involved with the PTG tuning exam since 1990. For the past ten years, Dean has been the Yamaha and Steinway "Concert and Artist" (C&A) tuner for the Western Michigan area, and since 1987 the concert tuner for the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. His hobbies include chess, biking, canoeing, and raising four sons with his wife Marty.

Mitch Kiel, RPT

Mitch is author of RCT's user manual and on-line help, advises Dean on RCT user interface design, provides support for RCT users, and is an Authorized RCT distributor. Mitch has been tuning pianos full time since 1984 (aurally-only to 1993) and is fascinated by the overlap of aural and electronic tuning. "That's where hard-headed science bumps into art's soft belly. The resultant hybrid has revolutionized our profession." Mitch has written extensively for PTG, including a year long series in the Journal about preparing for the RPT Exams, PTG's Pre Screening Manual, and co-wrote PTG's Business Resource Manual and several Technical Bulletins. His hobbies include golf and bicycling.

Dean and Mitch are instructors at the PTG Annual Piano Technicians Guild Institute each July and at regional PTG conventions around the United States and Canada. They teach introductory and advanced classes on Reyburn CyberTuner. Take a look at our information on upcoming Reyburn CyberTuner classes
